Launch of Deaf Reach Center of Excellence in Nowshera

A significant milestone for Deaf Reach was marked with the inauguration of its new Center of Excellence in Nowshera, reflecting a continued commitment to expanding access to quality education and training for deaf children and youth in underserved regions.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Social Welfare Department and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, whose presence underscored the collaborative effort behind the establishment of this campus. The event brought together stakeholders and partners who have played a role in supporting initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes and opportunities for the Deaf community.

Located in Nowshera, the new Center of Excellence has been designed to serve a dual purpose: it functions both as an educational institution for deaf students and as a regional training hub focused on strengthening the capacity of teachers of the Deaf. In addition to providing structured academic instruction, the campus will offer vocational training programs that equip students with practical skills, enabling them to pursue greater independence and participate more actively in the workforce.

A key feature of the center is its role in supporting educator development across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where access to specialized training for teachers of the Deaf remains limited. By creating a centralized space for professional development, Deaf Reach aims to address existing gaps in teaching capacity while promoting more consistent and effective approaches to deaf education across these regions.

This development represents an important step forward in Deaf Reach’s broader mission to ensure that deaf children, regardless of their location, have access to learning environments that recognize and support their needs. As the organization continues to grow its network of campuses and programs, initiatives such as the Nowshera Center of Excellence contribute to building a more inclusive education system and expanding opportunities for the Deaf community across Pakistan.
