US Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires Visits Deaf Reach!

We were honored to welcome Natalie A. Baker, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Pakistan, to the Deaf Reach Karachi campus for an official visit that brought meaningful engagement and thoughtful exchange with our students and faculty.

During her time on campus, Ms. Baker interacted closely with students across different classrooms, observing their learning processes and daily communication in Pakistan Sign Language, while also taking the opportunity to speak with teachers and staff about the approaches that shape Deaf Reach’s educational model. Her visit offered a closer look at how classrooms are designed to be fully accessible, where visual learning, structured content development, and interactive teaching methods come together to ensure that deaf students are not only included but able to thrive academically and socially as well.

As she toured the campus, Ms. Baker was introduced to various training and development programs that extend beyond formal education, including initiatives focused on skill-building and independence, which play a critical role in preparing students for opportunities beyond school. These interactions highlighted the broader vision behind Deaf Reach’s work, where education is not treated as an isolated goal but as part of a larger commitment to empowerment and long-term inclusion within society.

Reflecting on her visit, Ms. Baker expressed appreciation for the dedication and thoughtfulness that underpin the institution’s work, noting how impactful it was to witness students learning in an environment where their needs are fully understood and addressed. Her engagement served as an encouraging moment for the Deaf Reach community, reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration and support in advancing access to quality education for deaf children across Pakistan.

We extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Baker for taking the time to visit our campus and engage so genuinely with our students and team.
