Deaf Reach Attends the International Congress on the Education of the Deaf (ICED) in Rome, Italy

At the International Congress on the Education of the Deaf (ICED) held in Rome, Deaf Reach founder Richard Geary took the global stage to share a story that is transforming the future of Deaf Education in Pakistan.

With over 700 educators, researchers, and advocates in attendance, the session highlighted a stark reality: although there are more than a million deaf children in Pakistan, only 5% have access to formal education.

Richard’s presentation introduced the full scope of the Deaf Reach model. This includes a growing network of main campuses and satellite schools that bring accessible education directly to Deaf students in underserved areas. He also shared the team’s work in developing Pakistan Sign Language resources and the Digital Learning Program, which is reshaping what Deaf education looks like across the country.

Deaf Reach also provides vocational training and job placement programs, helping Deaf youth gain the tools and confidence they need for long-term success.
